1. How would you describe yourself when it comes to your creative entrepreneurship?*

It’s a nights-and-weekends thing - I love channeling my creativity and find it very fulfilling, but it’s more of a hobby than a career to me.
My art makes me a little bit of money, but not nearly enough to support myself off it alone. I have to balance my creative side with my full-time job to pay the bills.
My art/craft is my full-time job - I work hard, but the struggle is real when it comes to finances. I sometimes find myself hustling just to break even.
I work on my art full time, and I’ve channeled it into a pretty well-paid gig. While business always has its ups and downs, I’m constantly trying to keep myself inspired and motivated.
I don’t really think of myself as “an artist” - but I am creative in other ways. I’m great at creative problem-solving, at thinking outside the box, and at viewing issues through a creative lens.

2. Creativity presents itself in many ways -- what would you say is your primary form of creative entrepreneurship?*

Photography - I’m never without a camera and am constantly composing photographs in my head.
Designer: graphic, fashion, interior design, or something else.
Music/Acting/Theater - My talent allows my audience to connect with me, each other, and the world.
Business and social entrepreneurship - I don’t think of myself as an artist, but I am a creative problem solver.
A mix of everything - I’m a chameleon and do a lot of different creative things

3: What is your biggest fear in making a living with your art?*

Money, honey: I have to pay my bills, and the thought of not having a stable 9-5 with guaranteed income is pretty daunting.
Success: I’m a little bit scared of what will happen if I blow up and get really successful overnight. Will I be ready?
Failure: I struggle with the fear of failing, and with what other people might think about me and how I’d feel about myself if I do.
Am I good enough? I don’t have an MFA or a ton of experience, even though I love being creative. Can I even call myself an artist?

4: How important has personal development like mindset work, mindfulness practice, and meditation been in your creative journey?*

I’ll be honest - I have no idea what personal development even means.
I’ve dabbled a little in it, but it wasn’t really for me.
It’s helped me see the possibilities for myself, and I’d like to explore it more.
Total game changer - without these practices to help learn more about myself and manage the world better, I never would be able to be on the path I’m on.

5. Where do you want your creative journey to lead you?*

I’m happy doing my thing in my free time, by myself.
I like my career, so I don’t want to quit my job to do my artwork full time. I’d love to make my art a stream of passive or alternative income to supplement my regular job.
My goal is to be a seasoned creative professional, making a nice living off my work and being able to live the life I want - travel, opportunities, etc.
I’m all about community - I want to be a well-known and well-respected artist in the community of my craft. I feel like this will allow me to best help others with my creativity.

6. What would you rather do on a Friday night?*

I’ve worked all week, and on a Friday, I just want to stay in. Having a night of takeout Thai food and Netflix will help me recharge my batteries and unwind. If I am hanging out with friends, I prefer a small group at a low-key venue or at someone’s apartment.
As soon as 5:00 hits, I’m ready to party - the more people, the better. I feel energized when I’m around a lot of people, and I love getting to know everyone around me. I love going to lively hotspots with lots of music and lots of interesting people.
I love both going out and staying in - it depends on my mood. On a Friday night it’s really a toss up.

7. What are your biggest creative challenges?*

Getting my project out there - it seems really daunting to find out who to pitch and where I can show my work.
Creativity blocks - I hate the feeling of wanting to create, but not knowing where to start.
Uncertainty - do I totally suck at this?
Honing my vision - I want to do all the things. How do I narrow it down to the most fulfilling and the most profitable?
Fear - I’m scared of failing, so I often find myself stuck.
Staying motivated - when my creative brain is constantly churning, it’s sometimes hard to stay inspired with fresh ideas.

8. What are the biggest challenges in your business?*

Development - I’m ready to be busy with a ton of work, but I’m struggling to find the right clients and projects so I can start making real money.
Delegation - I’m SUPER busy but have trouble finding a trustworthy team to manage the backend. I’d love to delegate out some of the smaller, time-consuming tasks and focus on my work.
Balancing my personal life - I’m so consumed in my creative work that it’s hard to take a day off or balance the needs of my partner/family.
Business skills - taxes, invoicing, bookkeeping, marketing; I hate doing all that stuff. I’m an artist! I want to create! But I can’t be successful without managing all the boring stuff.
Building relationships - I want to make friendships and collaborate with others in my creative community, but it’s hard to get started.

9. What fuels you in your creative pursuits?*

Creative resonance - being able to have other people connect with my work. I believe that art makes us feel less alone in the world.
Recognition - I want to be well-known… maybe even famous for my artwork.
Love of the craft - even if I never make a dollar of my artwork, I’ll still do it because I love it.
Outside inspirations - I love traveling and soaking in every beautiful or interesting thing I see, then channeling it into my work.
I do it for the ‘gram - I love getting recognition for my work on social media, and I want to be seen as an influencer.
